Cheap finds: Budget running shoes!

I was in SM megamall and about to buy a pricey pair of running shoes by Nike, I was willing to part ways with my hard earned 5k for a pair of Nike free when I decided to walk around one more time before I say goodbye to my cash and welcome my new rubber bling...

Just when I made the turn going back to the Nike store, I saw a makeshift sports store on sale! I snooped around and I saw this gray Dunlop running shoes! Dunlop? running shoes? I know what your gonna say... never heard right? but I remember my sister telling me her badminton shoes were Dunlop and she said not only was it durable, it was also comfortable! and guess what? it's super CHEAP!

This pair in particular only costs 1.2k and believe me I KNOW SHOES... I even worked for a big shoe company not too long ago.

So here's my final take...

SURE it can't promise you comfort the way leading brands can but believe me, for 1.2k, this pair offers support good enough for even those who have ankle and feet injuries like me! I already used my pair last Sunday May 17 in the Market! Market Power Mile Run Year 2 Race, and yeah it exceeded my expectations.

I'm not a hypocrite, I still want those Nike frees! but maybe when I get a raise, that's when I'll attempt to buy that again, and let me clarify7, I'm not mocking Nike nor saying not to buy them but all that I'm trying to say is that running is for everyone and not a privilege for the wealthy.

the "makeshift" store will only operate till today, May 19... but these shoes will be available in selected Toby's and Chris sports shop around the metro.

Now, there's no reason for you not to get into running, it's the cheapest, most effective way of staying in shape and living a healthy life!

Tara! let's run of our lives!

Market! Market Power Mile Run Year 2 Race Conquered! (1 of 4)

Funny, funny day of May 17, 2009! first, I got the worst mosquito bites since RBC was late and you know that time of day when mosquitoes bunch up and attack one last time right before the sunrise, right?

So everything else were chain reactions of RBC's being late, when we arrived at the parking lot of Market Market where we met his new recruit (Patrick), we heard an announcement that the 2 mile run will start in 30 seconds! we wondered why the 2 milers were released before the 5 milers were since RBC thought we still made it on time, so we were taking are time strolling looking for Patrick, I asked someone if the runners for the 5 miller were released, and he said "not yet" (later on we realized that he too was late and thought the runners have not been released yet, ...err duh!? my bad I asked!)

So clock was ticking and I decided to ask the organizers and was told that the 5 mile runners were released 5 minutes before the 2 milers were and that as we speak, 30 minutes had elapsed...

We then just went ahead and jogged around till we saw a sign that said "5miles this way"... that's the time we agreed to just follow the route and finish the race! Sayang that RBA was not able to join us since he's still adjusting to his new job yeah yeah... may printed name and time results paman din sa certificate na binigay haha!

it was our first time to join a race that is categorized in miles and 5 miles would be equivalent to 8 kilometers... we finished 8k in 1 hour and 30+ minutes! haha!

our official time will follow soon so be sure to stay tuned for more about sports and running, please visit my blog I'm running for my life, that's http://imrunningformylife.blogspot.com/ or simply click THIS!

BTW, this is the 1st of 4 installments (running event) that RBC planned for us to join! as for our new mate, nice to have you on board Patrick!

Botak’s Paa-Tibayan Race Congquered!

This Morning (May 10 '09) I ran 5k with RBC and RBA, it was fun! but I realized I was slower than last week at the (Marikina Advocacy Run) 5k seems to be just the right distance for me, just when I'm starting to tire, here comes the finish line!

My unofficial time is 28min according to RBC, but I'm looking forward to know my record time. Still no pics of RBA, nakalimutan ko eh! nako! RBA e-titiming ko talaga na pagod na pagod ka! haha!

in the meantime, here's the poster for the event! BTW, the singlet here is so cool!

Marikina Advocacy Run Conquered!

It was not my intention not to invite you guys to this event, I was too busy working on my final school requirements and thank God its oh so done! So I was just looking for something to refresh my mind... I went to Marikina Sports Park for my regular 4k run and I saw this running group who organized their own event called "Marikina Advocacy Run"(May 3, 2009) I approached them and asked for the details, immediately called running buddy Charles (RBC) and we registered for it!

Eto pa! RBC's bro (Andrew) wanted to join our running addiction too! So what better way to welcome a new running mate than to make him run 5k straight on his first trial! Baptism of fire, it definitely is!

We all agreed to run a 5k distance since non of us were in top shape and good thing that we chose a short distance to run since I was having a really bad case of LBM this day and also it was good that its within the city where I live! Also the reason why I was not able to take some pics! damn LBM!

I so promise to take pics on my next run! this Sunday in Fort Makati! will blog about it soon! maybe tomorrow hehe! BEWARE Andrew! I will take pics of you in your most awkward moment! that's when you've finished the race and looking like your gonna have a heartattack!

Meanwhile, I'll just show you the poster and the jersey design of the event! I'm still looking forward to knowing our time for this, i never had a record of any of my two official 5k runs, damn!

2 runs I forgot to blog about!

Before i completely forget to log... last April 14, 2009 I ran 4km and walked at the 7nth round! I know it's embarrassing and totaly stupid of me to start the first 4 rounds too fast! i finished it in 30 min... I KNOW!

Another one of my training runs which I (again) keep on forgetting to blog about was last April 29, 2009 again 4km and finished in 24 min! I'm a little bit happy about it.

My reason for not blogging? I had to concentrate on my thesis! and thank got it's already done! till my next blog entry!

(I know in my last entry I said I was going to post with a photo but sorry, I don't want to hold a camera for the next few weeks! haha!)

I did a follow-up!

well at least I'm happy to announce that after a week, I made a follow up run yesterday (march 23 09) and did not take me another 2 months to do so. hehe! no pictures here muna kc I think I posted to many pics on my last entry! I ran 4km and finished in 22 min! I even read the time wrong.

Buti nalang naalala ko the time i exactly started otherwise I would have had a record of 32 min for running 4km ang haba nun! so till nextime! may pics na yun next blog for sure!

Back on track 2

From my last blog entry i said i was back on track and that was 2 moths ago! That was my first run for the this year, now AFTER 2 MONTHS, I finally got the chance to go back to the sports park and run some laps! God! here are some pictures of how i looked right after the run!

I ran 4km and finished in 25 min :(

PARA AKONG NA TATAE!!!

My Ankor BEER Shirt from Koya Char-lez!
I really hope I can run regularly this coming April, and when i say regularly, I don't mean once in 2 months! My 2nd degree should be done (and hopefully I pass) this April and I should be free to go back to swimming, running etc...

indeed, doing sports is the next best therapy to forget emotional stress, when I was running this evening, I forgot how hurt I feel for whats going in my life lately.

The BEST thing is Animal Therapy! hug your pet! play with them! they will love you back! if you don't have a pet, go to a friend who has one or go to the nearest animal shelter near you!
